10 Ways to do homework efficiently

Homework is a regular part of the student's life and the most embarrassing and unwanted element for most students. But you have to do your homework as it means to practice and only a perfect practice can make you perfect. Before going into the ways of doing homework efficiently, let us find some reasons, why homework always poses some challenges to the students. The reason is not the reluctance of the students to do the homework but the causes which make the students reluctant to do the homework. The first thing is of course the development of the concept of the students on the subject or the topic on which he/she is being asked to do some homework. In most cases, it has been found that the basic concept of the subjects is not clearly understood by the students while taking the lessons from their teachers in the schools or colleges. This is the most prominent reason that students, having a very clumsy concept about the subject, lose interest in doing their homework properly. This happens particularly in subjects like Mathematics, Science, Finance, Economics, Accountancy etc. The next one is the planning of the students to start and finish the homework. Usually, most the students waste considerable time on their holidays before starting their homework and ultimately come under huge time pressure to finish the same when the deadline arrives. Sometimes, it also happens that the student starts the homework at a proper time, but at the very first stage he/she is stuck with some typical problems and loose interest in finishing the entire homework. One more important thing is the environment of the students in which he/she is studying. If the environment is not conducive to studying peacefully, then accomplishing homework is simply not possible for the students. Before asking the students to do their homework properly, the parents should be careful that the homework is meant for the work to be done in-home and a proper home environment must be there to help the student to get their homework done efficiently.

Here are some tips which the students should follow to work out their homework properly. In fact for the students of the lower class, the role of the parents, as well as, that of the private tutors are also very vital to get the homework done by the students efficiently, perfectly and within time.

  • The first important point is the concept of the topic of homework. If the student does not have a good concept, the homework cannot be done by him/her properly and the student will lose interest to finish the same. So before you start your homework, take a deep look into the subject matter and judge whether the concept of the homework topic is clear before you.

  • If you find that you lack in developing the clear concepts, even after going through books and class notes, it is time to resort to some private tutors or anyone who is capable of giving you a good concept in the topic or the subject you are dealing with.

  • After getting a clear concept, it is time to prepare a uniform schedule to work out the homework regularly and in a routine manner. Remember, this is very vital for accomplishing your homework efficiently. Once you will plan the entire time (maybe weeks or a month) properly, you will find that you have to devote a very little time per day to do your homework perfectly and within the time allowed by your institute. Though the time per day will vary depending upon the volume of the homework as well as the nature of the same.

  • Scan your homework thoroughly on the very first day (after getting the concept about the topic of the chapter clearly from your tutor) and mark the easier ones which you will be doing first. The reason for attempting the easier questions is that it will help you to increase your involvement gradually and it will also help you to have the concept of the subject more clearly. Thus when you will start the toughest part of the homework, the challenges that will be posted, will simply melt away.

  • Always find a better time to work out your homework. The time depends upon the student and could be any time during the day or night. The time should be chosen in such a way, that your concentration is best at that moment. One more important thing is, always try to stop your phones or net links at the time when you will be doing your homework. Keeping your mobile on means you are virtually mingling with the external world, and that is enough to disturb your concentration to work out your task.

  • Still, you may face some problems in tackling a few parts or a few problems while you are doing the home task. Do not worry, just mark those parts of the problems, and after some days you can ask your subject tutor to help you with those problems. Remember, it is better to accumulate the problems and then sit before your private tutor. This process will save you valuable time.

  • The class notes given by your lecturers could be a very important resource for you, for working out your homework. Be careful about taking the class notes properly. In most cases, the home works based on the class notes of the lectures given in your class.

  • In the case of children, in lower school, the parents have to be involved in helping their child to tackle their home tasks. Sometimes, the child does not understand what they have been asked to do. It is better to go through their class notes and the instruction of the teachers given in the school. Then the parents should judge whether the child has the necessary concepts about the topic. In most cases, it is better to ask the private tutor to identify the problem of the student and to help him out in doing his home task. But, the parents should be careful in developing the habit of doing homework regularly with their children.

  • The last one is about relaxation. It may sometimes happen that continuous working will make your job boring. So it is better, to take a short break in between doing your homework, whenever you will feel a bit exhausted. During this phase of a short break, try to do those things which you like most to do in your leisure time.
